Can you dye a white satin finish bolero jacket to navy blue with success. I don't know what makes up the satin?Name: Bobbie
Message: Can you dye a white satin finish bolero jacket to navy blue with success. I don't know what makes up the satin? No, if you don't know what the fiber is, you don't know what kind of dye to use. You have to match your dye to the fiber content. Silk satin is very easy to dye, using either fiber reactive dyes, such as Procion MX dyes, or acid dyes. Polyester satin is very difficult to dye; the only dye that will work is disperse dye, which must be boiled with the jacket for an hour. I suspect that your jacket might not appreciate being boiled.
