How I did it

I tied a thin rayon shirt as described under "Folded mandalas and stars" on How to tie-dye a star or mandela pattern, pre-soaked it in soda ash solution, and dyed it by dribbling on unthickened dye from squirt bottles, mixed as in How to Dye.
