what in the world is a tjanting?Name: David
Message: Sorry for such a stupid question. But, what in the world is a tjanting? I tried to look up a definition for this word and found nothing. Also, big thanks for the web site. It's very helpful. A tjanting is a device used to apply melted wax to the fabric, in batik. It's usually made of brass, and has a small reservoir, with a hole on the top for filling, and a point for the wax to flow out of, like a pen. There are good pictures at PRO Chemical & Dye.
