Never bleach Lycra!Name: Jan
Message: We've have been asked to tie dye lycra using bleach. Have you got any tips for us please. Thanks Jan Yes, I have one very important tip: DON'T DO IT! You can discharge-dye 100% cotton (be sure to learn how to stop the action of the bleach with Anti-chlor, before you even start), but you should never apply bleach to synthetics. Bleach permanently damages synthetics such as Lycra spandex, with effects ranging from discoloration to breakage of the fiber. Basically, it will just destroy the fiber, sooner or later, depending on the amount of bleach exposure. It's a very bad idea. Posted: Thu - February 17, 2005 at 12:33 PM |
