We are in the process of making some covers for acoustic panels that will go in our sound studio and hang on the walls. We have been reading about your ideas on dying and have acquired from links off your sight soda ash, dyes and urea.
We were wanting to hand dye the unbleached muslin using spray bottles and a pre-soak of soda ash.
Here's the question. What we are after is a single color which starts out full at one end of the panel (they are 2 foot by 4 foot high rectangles) and gradually lightens across its face, Such as a dark green at the bottom and then slowly lightens as it proceeds towards the top.
How can we get this effect, were not looking for a tie die type but a smooth transitional fade of the base color....
Appreciate any ideas on how to achieve this effect.
We would like to commend you on a wonderful web sight on dying, easy to navigate, priceless on information and supportive with excellent links.
Thank you
