How do I get a tea dyed look with procion dyes

I want to dye a large quanity (5 yards) of PFD muslin to a tea dye look. Does anyone know the formula for this. I have 35 dark brown and Chocolate brown dye on hand. I do this for myself and have not dyed that many times. Thanks for any help. Tee

Just mix it...

I don't have any formula but I think that after few test you'll get what you like. Prepare peices of soda soaked cotton test-strips, let them dry.
Then take browns that you have, add water by small amount and after each adding of water, dip soft brush into solution and paint on the soda-soaked strip, taking notes.

Choose which test came out best. Do one more test with bigger testing piece of fabrics.
Then continue the dyeing process accordning to your desire - should it be uniform color or mottled look?

try a ten-fold dilution

To get a pale color, try using only one-tenth as much as usual of the dye powder, or even less. For example, to get a medium brown with PRO Chemical & Dye's "Hot Chocolate" mixture, you would use 4% OWG, or 4 grams of dye per 100 grams of fabric. To get a pale brown with the same dye, try one tenth of this, which would be 0.4 grams of dye per 100 grams of fabric. If you normally use 2 teaspoons (10 ml) of dye, you might try a scant 1/4 teaspoon (or about 1 ml) of dye. But as Jaja suggests, you'd better do some tests first, or you might find you've dyed your fabric too dark.

For a single smooth solid color, try using the washing machine. See How can I dye clothing or fabric in the washing machine?, in the FAQ section of this site. Try to err on the side of using too little dye. Remember it's easier to dye again than to remove dye after you've applied it.
