Setting an LWI (low water emersion)

I did my first LWI the other day and used the advice on this forum for setting it with Soda Ash. IE: 1 teaspoon soda Ash per cup of dye water used. Then pouring directly over fabric still emerged in dye bath.
When I grad dye I set the dye by emerging the dyed fabric into a clean solution of soda ash and water.
My question is, would submerging the lwi'ed fabric into a clean solution of soda ash and water work as well or is it necessary to keep the fabric in the original dye bath and pour the soda ash solution over it?

another lwi method is this

I simply do solution of soda 250g per 1l. Then I stuff the dyeing pot with fabrics, dye solutions, soda solution in sub sequent manner to have just enough of everything as it fills up.

This is what I get this way.
Bigger resolution image is here. (I prefer rather subtle changes in shade, not too much contrast, that's why I prefer to add soda "on the run" and not pre-soak and I pour in tone-in-tone dyes)

Soda ash and LWI dyeing

When I first started using the LWI method, I added the dissolved soda ash solution to the dye bath about an hour after I applied the dye. More recently, I tend to pre-soak my piece in soda ash solution for about 15 minutes, squeeze out the excess soda ash, scrunch my piece into a small container, then apply the dyes and batch for about an hour. I think submerging the dyed fabric into a bath of soda ash might be too much soda ash, but as with anything, it's worth a try to see what kind of results you would get. You might want to do a side-by-side experiment comparing between submerging and pouring soda ash over, just to see which method gives you a better result. And do let us know how it comes out if you try!
