eco-dyeing versus eco-staining

Hi Beth,

Your leaf shapes are very pretty.

I'd like it if you would make a distinction between dyeing and staining, in your blog.

This matters when it comes to pieces that have not been washed at all yet. If the colors come out of the fabric on the first or second washing, or if the fabric cannot be washed at all without losing its color, then it's not really dyeing.

Staining is an art, no less than dyeing, and I'm happy to be able to see the lovely pictures, but it can be kind of misleading to refer to unwashed pieces as having been dyed. You can't know how much is dye, and how much is a temporary stain, until you wash it.
