dharma changed the numbers or codes

I am using your list of likely colors needed and the number cross references. Dharma apparently changed the codes on the colors. I don't see the orange #4 is listed as a yellow. I assume the numbers are still good except for the orange or yellow. thanks

yellows and oranges can be confusing

The yellows and oranges can be confusing, but I'm not seeing any signs that they have changed.

Dharma's catalog number PR4 is called "Deep Yellow" by them. Its generic manufacturer's code is "Procion yellow MX-3R", and its Colour Index generic name is "Colour Index reactive orange 86". It seems confusing that the Colour Index name includes "orange" when the original manufacturer's name includes "yellow" and the common name includes "yellow", as well, but then, it is a color midway between yellow and orange. Dharma does not give the full generic name in their info; for this dye, in their printed catalog and on their website, they mention the last part of the Procion code, "MX-3R", but that is meaningless by itself unless you include the color base name, in this case yellow. See my page, What do the letters and numbers in the code name for a Procion MX type dye mean?.

To see Dharma's catalog numbers in order, use this page:
Dharma Fiber Reactive Procion Dyes - Sorted By Number. To see their list with the partial manufacturer codes, giving just the last part of the name without the required color name, see Dharma Trading Co. Fiber Reactive Dye Pricelist [PDF].

Don't confuse Colour Index reactive orange 86 ("Deep Yellow") with Colour Index reactive yellow 86 ("Lemon Yellow"), by the way. The similarity in Colour Index number is just a coincidence.

I was trying to match the

I was trying to match the orange for your color list which you supplied in one of my previous posts asking about frequent colors. could not ref the red either to order. how about a good green?

good starting colors

The orange you want, orange MX-2R, is Dharma's PR6. (Its Colour Index name is reactive orange 4.) It's a nice bright orange and it's ideal for mixing with red MX-5B to make a bright true red.

There are two reds that are very close to each other in color, red MX-8B (fuchsia) and red MX-5B (Dharma's light red). Fuchsia is a great bluish red for mixing, but it tends to separate out when you're tie-dyeing, which can be good or bad depending on what you like. Light red is very similar in color but behaves better if you want solid colors.

There are no unmixed single-hue greens. Pick any premixed green that you like, or mix your own. Turquoise plus lemon yellow makes good bright greens. For deeper greens, it's good to start with a navy blue, such as blue MX-2R (Dharma's cobalt blue).
