Unlike the other books I've read by Kage Baker, The Anvil of the World is a fantasy. I found it very amusing, neatly crafted to make it worth rereading.

One of the reasons I put books in here is so that I can remember which authors I want to keep looking for under new releases. Kage Baker is one I look for regularly.
