Mosaic images made with my photos

These mosaic images were prepared using a great program called MacOSaiX. If you click on any of the mosaics below, you will see a  (warning! very large!)  image at great enough magnification to distinguish the individual images from which it is constructed. The first four pictures, of my two sons and me, were made with our own family snapshots (at last! something to do with all those pictures!). The fifth picture, showing Matt, is made from google images obtained automatically via a keyword search for various tools, while the seventh picture, of Isis the cat, is made of images obtained automatically from a keyword search with various cat-related words. The second picture of Matt is made from random glyphs contructed by assigning random foreground and background colors to randomly selected letters from various fonts that were installed on my computer at the time.

MacOSaiX tends to crash a lot undet the Panther operating system, but I felt it was worth the time invested in tending it. (I might feel differently if the computer itself ever crashed.) It turns out that crashes are much less frequent if one frequently stops the program to save the current image.

Warning: the images below link to detailed images that are very large (about one megabyte each). Do not click on them unless you have a fast connection!
